- 100 Strangers 100 Stories -
Welcome to my first ever photo project of "100 Strangers 100 stories". I have challenged my self to try and photograph people that I have never met and learn a bit about them. My goal is to showcase everyday people and their portrait without all the "perfection" and photoshop that we see so often by the media. Ordinary people, Unordinary Stories.
Follow along as I update this page with new Strangers and Stories regularly every so often and push myself to interact with strangers and shoot as often as possible. Make sure to follow along and share this to let others know!
Stranger #2 - Lloyd
At first when I approached Lloyd, he seemed very nervous and sceptical about what I was asking him to do, but as soon as I told him a bit more about who I was, he really opened up. I saw Lloyd near to the park and he told me he was on his way to a piano lesson. He's also a chef and study's humanities at open university online. What I really loved about Lloyd was his real passion for what he was saying although he seemed confused at first by the end of the shoot and as I spoke more to him, he became more and more interesting to listen to.
Stranger #3 - Caroline
It was a long day before I got her photo, I had been trying for a while with no success of a photograph and stranger.
I was almost ready to call it a day as I was soaked though by the rain and starting to loose hope of finding someone however, that was when I met Caroline she was walking with her husband Jem and her dog.
It was a very quick photo and story from both of them as it was raining as we took the shot.
Caroline seemed fascinated by the idea of what I was doing. She wished me the best of luck and said she couldn't wait to see how it progressed.
Stranger #4 - Antonio
"You take my photo and show it in UK, my face, it make you famous"
My next stranger comes from abroad, I shot this photo a while ago back when I was in Italy, Sorrento.
I was out at night practising some street photography in the busy back streets of Sorrento and I met Antonio, he knew a bit of English and through his thick Italian accent, he told me about how he used to work in England a few years ago for a big business in London. Despite having taken this photo so long ago, his interesting story and words were something I could not forget.
He told me after I took his photo and I showed it to him, he said,
" You take my photo and show it in UK, my face, it make you famous"
Stranger #5 - Ollie and Phoebe
I took this photo of Ollie and Phoebe in the centre of Bristol at College Green at one of the "March for Europe" campaigns. Both of them were born in Bristol and are studying at Brighton University. Ollie is studying history and Pheobe is studying psychological sciences. They were both extremely kind and interesting to listen to and I wish them the best of luck in the future.
Stranger #6 - Ed
I met Ed in the centre of Bristol whilst I was out shooting some cityscapes and is one of the most down to earth and interesting person to talk with.
Ed has been homeless for 11 years due to marriage problems and since has been working for the Big Issue selling copies around the UK. I asked him what his dream job/ lifestyle would be and he said " I want to have a boat, a life like this is tough nowhere to stay and the world is so run around money nowadays that with a boat when things get tough you can go out and separate yourself from society for as long as you want and when you're ready, come back a completely different and better person."
I wished Ed the best of luck and thanked him for sharing his story with me.
Stranger #7 - Phill
I met Phill whilst I was practising some long exposure and I thought it would be interesting to feature him as part of this project.
Phill has been homeless for the last 3 months and has been selling Big Issue magazines in an attempt to "reset his life". I asked Phill what was the scariest thing that has ever happened to him and he told me about when he was once cahsed and robbed of his money at knife point after work.
